Decisions

I need to congratulate Aimee @ I Tri To Be Me for her Tri PR; I mistakenly left her out of my congrats in my last post; Well done Aimee!!

So Decision making time for me the last couple of days/weeks, whatever:

*I decided to go sign up for another OWS in the Hudson River. The Riverside Park Tune Up Swim, which takes place the weekend before the NYC Triathlon. Perfect! You could also do it as a Aquathon or whatever they call that combo to run aftward, but I can't see paying an additional $55 just to tack on a 5K. I am more interested in the OWS practice anyway.

*Yesterday I decided to try Jon's formula to check my sweat rate. I was a bit reluctant because it meant getting on the (damn) scale and I haven't done that since April at my last doctor's appointment. I got naked, braced myself and got on the scale. Imagine my surprise when I saw that I was down 6 pounds!! Holy crap! That makes it official; I'm at what I consider my 'fighting weight' and I have officially lost ALL of my baby weight. It only took forever. The sweat rate results? I lost a total of 42 oz. after a 6 mile run or 7 oz. of sweat per mile.

* I decided to sign up for another Half Iron race. I have signed up for the Bassman Fall Half in south Jersey on October 3rd. The reason I decided to do this race is because the course is flat. After the hills from hell at Mooseman I want to see how I would do on a flat course....I figure I've earned it. Also it is a local race and I am curious about that too. How is a non Ironman branded race run. I'm sure it won't be as extravagant, but I hear these guys put on a pretty good race.

*I decided I needed a new pair of Brooks Launch...even though they have come out with a new color, I still love the 'mantis' (read: electric) green and purple color. Of course I need to have new red shoes laces too like the old pair! Love this shoe!!

My old pair when they were new...

*I decided that my next swim workout will be outdoors since the outdoor pools open tomorrow in the city!!! Of course this is after the median temp has now dropped 20 degrees.....of course.

*I decided I need to wrap things up to I can go pick up my new Team In Training Sugoi uniform and meet a friend for lunch. Killing two birds.

* I also decided I need to wish my sister and her hubby good luck at they head to Borneo to climb Mt. Kinabalu!! Go guys!!

*I decided I better ice my knees with a beer or two...thanks Mandy!

Congrats on losing all your baby weight! It took me until my "baby" was in second grade to lose it all. :P
How exciting about another half iron, I'm looking forward to reading about your training!

I did the Riverside Tune Up Swim last year - just for OWS practice and it was good practice. Plus you get a medal and the swag bags are good ;)

Your next HIM sounds great - I'm very interested to see how your two experiences compare, especially the M-dot branded vs. independant.

Woo hoo all around! (weight loss, OWS, Bassman Half).

Cross your fingers that the Bassman Half RD brings his ancient mother for post race yumminess.

Your last decision is the best one on the list! The other ones are all awesome too though! :)

I've done two 70.3's now, one IM-branded, one not. I actually liked the non IM-branded one better. It was much more low key and not as crazy. It was still very well organized and a lot of fun.

Good luck with your OWS practice and the rest of your training!

Aww..thanks for the shout out! :)

I signed up for an Aquaman race thing too. They have the option of running afterwards, but I'm just doing the swim part like you. I can use all the practice I can get! I hope yours goes well!

Woohoo for losing all the baby weight! And, yay for signing up for another Half! :)

Lots of good stuff here in this post... lost 6 lbs is awesome! And I like smaller local races. You'll likely find that your motivation will have to be more internal at the smaller races because there will be fewer people around you all day so you'll find yourself a lone more often, which can be weird when you are 'racing'... but I really like smaller local races! Very fun. :)

I dont get why anyone would add $55 either to run a 5k.
