Is This What They Call Bike Porn?

Lets get the numbers out of the way too for the month of March...a little short owing to 3 missed days, grrrrr, cough, hack.....

Swim: 24,946 yds.
Bike: 219.3 Miles
Run: 76.5 Miles

So I did brave the subway and stifled my cough as much as possible and nearly ruptured several blood vessels in my brain in the process. I was headed out to look at a bike I saw on Craigslist. It was a Fuji Roubaix full Dura Ace. The guy was nice, said he was selling it because he bought a new one. At first glance the bike seemed a bit 'care worn' which is to say, not too well taken care of. He was asking $625 which is great considering it really was full Dura Ace (except the crank arms which were Ritchey). I know beggars can't be choosers, but it wasn't very nicely kept, as I said. Then I checked out the cassette, 12-23, 9 speed, front crank 53/39. Yeah, that is going to make it harder for me on the hills. As it is I am on a 53/39, 9 speed 12/25 and I am working for my 4% grade. That nixed the deal right there.

Well, I'm downtown anyway, so I might as well check out some of the local LBS. There are some small ones, so you never know what you'll find. I was thinking to get a road bike although had not ruled out the possibility of a tri bike. I looked at a nice entry level Bianchi C2C Alu/carbon, Tiagra (see...entry level) which was nice, but I'm cheap. I moved on...

I then passed another shop that I hadn't ever seen before. I went in and looked at road bikes and they had a couple of tri bikes hanging around......in.....my.....size. What harm could it do to just 'try one on'. Do you have a dressing room please? Thank you. They mounted it on a trainer for me so I could check it out. I had my shoes with me so I could try out that other bike from craigslist, sweet! It felt so different from the road bike, but awesome. They tweaked it a little for me here and there to make it more comfy. Mind you, I hadn't committed to buying anything yet, I'm just looking. This bike fit like a glove. Ok, dude, how much is this little slice of heaven? Really? So what if I can't send my only child to college, right? Kidding. It was a 2008 and they wanted to get rid of it so it was a pretty sweet deal. But I don't know....Oh what the hell, right? Sometimes you have to live dangerously?
